FMS Achievements

1996 - FMS was awarded the NODA Southern Region Accolade of Excellence for its production of "The Sound of Music", directed by Eileen Hodges. Alan Pring was Musical Director with Alan Trout as Chorus Master.

1999 - The Daily Echo Curtain Call Awards. For our production of "Anything Goes", the society was nominated for three categories: Best Actress - Jane Kenyon as Reno Sweeney, Best Supporting Actor - Jonathan Redwood as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, Best Director of a Musical - Eileen Hodges. Jonathan won his category as best supporting actor, well done Jonathan. Also that evening we were asked to perform at the awards dinner. Mark Hills led the company in "Bui Doi" from "Miss Saigon".

1999 - Following its successful production of "West End Showstoppers 2", FMS was asked to provide the evening's cabaret following  the NODA Southern Area AGM.  The hour long concert at Worthing in front of their peers and the President of NODA, was very exciting, and FMS received much applause.

2000 - FMS received the NODA Southern Area Accolade of Excellence for its production of "Me and My Girl". Pictured opposite is Eileen Dobson (President of NODA) presenting the award to Robbie MacNab and Alison Dea who played the parts of Bill and Sally. This production was also recognised by the Daily Echo and nominated for six awards: Best Actor - Robbie MacNab as Bill, Best Supporting Actress - Katie Bushell as Lady Jaqueline, Best Director - John Bettesworth, Best Choreography - Rosie Nash, Best Musical Director - Nigel Duffin and Production of the Year. We were all thrilled when Robbie won the Best Actor award and Rosie won the Best Choreographer award.

2001

The year, 2001, the Society took a step to staging something different from what it has staged before, "Cabaret". Not only was it a fun show to stage, but it has been nominated in 11 categories. The nominations are as follows:

Jeremy Ray - Best Actor in a Musical
Michael Coleman - Best Supporting Actor in a Musical
Sue Hope - Best Supporting Actress in a Musical
Rosie Nash - Best Choreographer
John Bettesworth - Best Director of a Musical
Nigel Duffin - Best Musical Director
Best Lighting and Effects
Best Set and Props
Best Costumes
Best Ensemble
Production of the Year

Following on from last year's success when we were nominated in 6 categories and were successful in winning Best Choreographer and best Actor in a Musical, hopes were high of even greater success.

As the evening progressed, disappointment followed disappointment, as one by one our nominations failed to win any of the glittering awards. However, we did win one category, Best Choreographer. Having the most vociferous group at the award ceremony was made abundantly apparent when Rosie Nash's name was announced. Congratulation go to Rosie for winning the award for the second year running.
