What the papers said:Barely
a pause for breath - The News
"With compilation shows such as this, with no plot to hold up
proceedings, audiences are treated to a dizzying procession of songs.
Fareham Musical Society offer up more than 40 from stage and screen with
barely a pause for breath.
Katie Bushell is Marilynesque in Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend
and Sue Hope provides a diva-like turns with People and
Diamonds Are Forever.
As for Susan Burnett's laid-back version of A Hard Day's Night,
part of the audience could have done with a cold shower afterwards.
Graeme Clements' tragi-comic Mr Cellophane raises a wry smile
and Danny Owen's powerful voice brings This Is The Moment to
life.
But my favourite was Rhythm Of Life, featuring the company in
authentic 60s hippy gear." Chris Broom
The Daily Echo
"As the programme states, "this show consists solely of song and
dance, which gives an opportunity for all members of the society to take an
active part".
This chance is grabbed whole-heartedly with both hands by the whole cast.
There are seven ensemble and nine small company numbers plus solos, duets
etc, to make 41 songs in all. The audience can't fail to hear a favourite or
two and become involved.
The choreography by Wezley Sebastian is particularly impressive, as are the
colour and range of Julie Brombley's costumes.
Director Marina Voak and musical director Nigel Duffin have combined to
produce an entertaining show.
The show opens with a bang and The Rhythm of Life concludes the first
act in similar fashion. An unorthodox version of Pretty Woman is one
of the second act highlights." Jim Rumsey
